Northwest Stoves is looking to bring 1 individual experienced in sales and technical support into our growing company in Abbotsford, BC.

For the past 10 years, Northwest Stoves has grown from a modest fireplace wholesaler into a multi-faceted distributor of “fire” products across Western Canada. We are excited about the next phase of our growth as we add this key leader to our current team. Ideally, we are looking for an individual with experience within the hearth and barbecue industry. The sales territory this person would be responsible for is as follows, however, they would work primarily out of the Abbotsford head office:

Territory – Kamloops and all regions north in British Columbia - Split Sales/Technical

Basic Job Responsibilities:
• Maintaining and implementing a well thought out strategy for growing sales with our existing dealer base
• Identifying new opportunities to grow the business and following up on leads
• Monitor territory and industry trends and develop an action plan to work within these trends
• Continue to foster excellent relationships with Northwest Stove’s large and diverse dealer base
• Provide technical assistance to installation or maintenance problems as they arise with any product Northwest Stoves distributes
• Be able to research and follow up in a timely manner when answers are not immediately apparent in order to serve the customer effectively
• Able to make on the spot decisions in order to serve the customer effectively as well as maintain profitability for Northwest Stoves
• Able to go to dealer showrooms – and potentially end user’s homes – when required in order to assist a dealer in solving an issue (along with representation from that dealer).

While having someone with the requisite experience and educational background is important, we also want to find the right person to fit with our NWS family. Here are the key qualities that the successful candidate must possess:

Positive Attitude
We know, this one gets said a lot. As we think about the person who will be able to work within our sales team, possessing a positive, can-do attitude may be the most crucial attribute of all. At Northwest Stoves, our Outside Sales Representatives need to be able to comfortably negotiate the ever-changing landscape of our dealer network and develop and maintain strong professional relationships with our dealers, manufacturers as well as the Northwest Stoves office team. Because another one of Northwest Stoves' core values is Superior Customer Service, you must be interested in people, the wellness of others, and be continually aware of how you can visit a dealership and know that you’ve made it better than before.

Superior Communication Skills
Our Outside Sales Representatives are on the ‘front line’ when speaking with our dealers, so excellent communication skills are essential. An Outside Sales Representative must be able to express him or herself clearly in writing and in conversation and be very comfortable speaking both one on one and in education and group environments.

Excellent Computer and Multi-Tasking Skills
Organizational Excellence is another core value at Northwest Stoves, and while experience within our core systems is beneficial, it is important that the Outside Sales/Tech Representative arrives with a strong knowledge using a variety of devices enabling him or her to search, communicate and perform. These may include but are not limited to: computer and/or laptop (using SAGE/ACCPAC, Excel and WORD is a bonus), smart phone, tablet. Experience with Google Docs is a bonus as well.

Experience and Education
• The successful candidates will have a minimum of 3-5 years within the hearth industry, preferably with some technical experience
• Must have a strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills with a proven track record of results
• Formal sales training in recognized sales training program (CPSA as an example) is an asset
• Previous outside sales experience is a definite asset
• Must possess a minimum class 5 driver’s license and have the ability to travel to the US for Trade Shows and vendor visits/training
• Public speaking experience would be beneficial
• Knowledge of the Hearth & BBQ industry, power tools, HVAC or Plumbing is preferred: 3 years (Preferred)
• Experience with warranty and/or counter sales is also an asset
